Who it suits

Development environments, CI, throwaway services, and infrastructure you may want to rebuild at will. People who care about SLA and platform maturity.

Who it does not suit: Anyone optimising for a low long-term cost. Hourly billing is convenient but usually costs more over years than a promotional annual plan.

Routes we list it under

Check these before you pay

  • Its core strength is not the route

Snapshots, tags, firewall groups, an API, automatic reinstalls — those are the actual product. Use it as lego-brick infrastructure, and do not expect it to optimise a return path for you.

  • IPv6-only plans are cheaper

Its IPv6-only machines cost noticeably less than the ones with IPv4. Beginners often trip here: it pings, but the service does not work. Read our “checking a blocked IP” guide before deciding whether you need IPv4.

Questions

What does it cost?

vultr.com/pricing returned a bot check when we checked, and we do not work around those. Price varies by region, datacenter and IP count — check the console.

Is it good for hosting a site?

Yes for sites with overseas visitors. For mainland-facing traffic it runs ordinary international egress — do not expect much at peak.

Some merchant links on this site are affiliate links: we may earn a commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. Rankings are decided by route and use case only, never by commission rate.
